Holy moly, I cannot believe this sweet little bundle of energy is THREE already! I remember going through her newborn and six month photos when she was so calm and immobile, now she is three and running all over the place, sharing her smile and educating the world on the magic behind bubbles and dandelions! And maybe throwing a few baseballs now and then, too 🙂
After three years of family sessions, pulling up to Catherine and John’s house for their morning photo shoots almost feels like coming home. Being greeted at the door by the welcoming committee (aka Trevor and Darcy, the family’s Min Pin dogs), and knowing that after a bit of catching up I’ll get to see just how much sweet Gen has grown over the last year. This year, Gen greeted me at the door right there with the dogs in her pink tutu and bright turquoise beads, immediately asking to be picked up! I have to admit, it’s always a little nerve wrecking coming to photograph a child that you’ve known since she was a newborn but is grown up now, because when you only see them once a year, you never know if they’re going to remember you or not! Thankfully for me, Catherine and John had been talking up Genevieve’s birthday session and she was so ready to go, talking about all the things she wanted pictures of – her beads, her bracelet, her puppies 🙂
We all headed outside, and immediately down the hill to the park in their neighborhood. I love that we’ve gone to this park for each of her birthday sessions, because looking back on the photos you can absolutely see how much she’s grown. After some exploring, slides with Mom and Dad, and bubbles with Dad, we went back inside to get some photos with Trevor and Darcy and finish up for the day just in time for lunch.
Catherine and John, thank you so much for letting me be your Life Photographer! I so love coming up each year for Geneveieve’s birthday sessions, and I can’t wait to see you later this summer for your new arrival! 🙂 🙂
